One Postdoc Position
The Yazdani SIGMa lab invites applicants for one postdoc position in AI-assisted discovery of materials or multiscale simulation of composites available immediately. Only individuals meeting the following requirements are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities

Developing AI-assisted multiscale computational models

Publishing papers

Mentoring undergraduate research assistants

Participating in collaborative opportunities beyond the project

Assisting in developing grant proposals
Required Qualifications
-
Ph.D. in mechanical/materials/civil Engineering, or a related field
-
Strong background in computational materials science: Proficiency in computational methods, such as density functional theory (DFT), molecular dynamics (MD), or Monte Carlo simulations, is essential.

Experience with materials modeling software: Proficiency in LAMMPS and one FEM software is required.

Strong AI and machine learning background: In-depth knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques, with a focus on their application to materials science problems is required.

Research experience: A track record of conducting independent research in computational materials engineering, as evidenced by publications in reputable journals, is required.

Programming skills: Proficiency in Python is required.

Expertise in materials characterization: Knowledge of experimental techniques for materials characterization and the ability to correlate computational predictions with experimental results is desired.

Strong writing skills

The Yazdani SIGMa lab invites applicants for multiple Ph.D. positions in Geotechnical Engineering with research projects focused on multiscale mechanics of polymer nanocomposites starting spring 2025. Only individuals meeting the following requirements are encouraged to apply.

Fabricating, testing, and characterizing reinforced soil and polymer composite samples

Developing AI-assisted multiscale computational models

Mentoring undergraduate research assistants

Collaborating on side projects
Required Qualifications

BSc and MSc in civil or mechanical or materials engineering

Background in multiscale modeling and simulation of soils and materials (molecular dynamics, DEM, FEM, ...), microscopy, and machine learning
